夜のコースは、ライトの配置や明暗差によって視界が変わります。
これを知らずに昼間と同じ感覚でプレーすると、思わぬミスを招きます。

  • 距離感が掴みにくい
    照明はフェアウェイやグリーンを重点的に照らしますが、ライトとライトの間には暗い部分ができやすく、その暗さで奥行きが分かりにくくなることがあります。特にアプローチでは、手前が暗く奥が明るいなどの明暗差で距離感を誤るケースが増えるので注意が必要です。
  • 影の影響
    グリーン上では照明の向きによって影が伸び、傾斜の見え方が錯覚される場合があります。例えば、実際にはフラットなのに逆目に見えたり、傾斜があるのに平らに感じることがあります。
  • 気温と芝の状態
     夜は湿度が上がり、芝の表面に夜露がつきます。この状態では芝が重くなり、ボールの転がりが昼間より短くなります。パッティングだけでなく、ランを計算したアプローチにも影響することがあります。

この環境の変化を理解しておくことが、ナイターでスコアを作る第一歩です。

① 事前準備で差をつける

ナイターゴルフでは、プレー前の準備がスコアに直結します。
昼間以上に「備え」が重要です。

（1）ボールの選び方

ナイターでは、必要に応じて白いボールではなく蛍光色（オレンジや黄色）や光沢加工のあるボール、光るボールなどを使用することで見失い防止をしましょう。
実際に芝の上に置いてみて、どのボールが見やすいか事前に確認しておくこともおすすめです。

（2）目の慣れ

暗い環境にいきなり入ると、目が距離感や明暗に順応するまで時間がかかります。
ラウンド前に10〜15分程度、練習グリーンやコース周辺で照明下に慣れておきましょう。

（3）服装と装備

夜は日中より5℃以上気温が下がることもあります。
女性の場合は、薄手の羽織ものを1枚用意しておくと安心です。
また、涼しくなった夜に活発に動き出す虫もいるので、虫よけスプレーは必須アイテムです。

② ナイターでスコアを作る戦略

（1）攻めより“確実性”重視

ライトの光でボールが見えにくくなる瞬間があります。自信のあるクラブを選び、確実に狙える方向に打つことが大切です。飛距離よりも、フェアウェイキープを優先しましょう。

（2）キャリーでしっかり狙う

湿った芝ではランが少なくなるため、低く出して転がすよりも、ロフト角のあるクラブを使用して少し高さを出して直接近くに落とす方が戦略がおすすめです。
例えば、昼間ならキャリー6割＋ラン4割を想定していたところを、ナイターではキャリー8割＋ラン2割程度に想定して打ちましょう。

（3）グリーンの読み方

ナイター照明は上や斜めから当たるため、影が強く出る方向とほとんど影がない方向があります。影が濃く見える方向＝必ずしも下りではないので、傾斜判断に直結させないように注意しましょう。

光の反射や影で傾斜が読みづらい場合は、足裏の感覚で傾斜を確かめると良いでしょう。ナイターでは視覚に頼りすぎず、身体の感覚を使うことがポイントです。

③ 集中力の維持とメンタル管理

（1）プレーリズムを一定に保つ

夜だからと言って、昼間のいつものプレーリズムやスイングを変える必要はありません。素振りの回数や構えるまでの時間など、いつも通りのルーティンで力まず臨みましょう。

（2）暗さを味方に

ナイターは景色が見えにくい分、余計な情報が入りにくく、ショットに集中しやすくなります。この環境をポジティブに捉えることで、プレーが安定します。

（3）軽食で脳をリフレッシュ

集中力は脳のエネルギー消費と密接に関係します。ナイターでは夕食時間をまたぐことが多いので、バナナやエナジーバーなど軽く消化できるものを持参すると最後まで集中してプレーすることができます。涼しくても水分補給は忘れずに！
